Valley Park Elevator

The historic Valley Park Elevator is the only remaining elevator in St. Louis County, and it even has its own website nowadays.

    This is a MARVELOUS place!
It is well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.
As you wander, you sometimes (often) wish you had the need for the services and tools this store provides. It does sell lawn-type supplies as well.

The uncle of a GS mate of mine was the manager there waay back and we visited and poked around - what fun! It was just a short ride on the (long-vanished) County Bus Line VP bus route from Kirkwood to Valley - an excursion.
OT, but that VP line started in Maplewood, served Kirkwood and the Marine Hospital (later St. Joseph's) and ended up on Big Bend at Ballas and then West to 141 and South into Valley. That company used cast-off Public Service (the City line) buses...
