I was completely stunned at the incredible new performing arts center just south of downtown Kansas City. I was in particularly impressed at the ingenious and innovative design of the building, which dominates the skyline. Daring architecture has always been present in American cities, and it's nice to see they chose not to look to the past but towards the future.

Randolph County Courthouse, Chester, Illinois

I wonder if these two stones are what's left of the old Randolph County Courthouse. What's there now is clearly from the 1960's or 70's, and is a strong candidate for a Bad Mansard.

Cool Apartment Building, Webster Groves

This post-modern looking apartment building is right on Lockwood, in the heart of Webster Groves, but I think it fits in well with the street wall, relatively.I was expecting a pool in the courtyard, but unfortunately there's just a parking lot. I love the repeating concrete blocks.

Post-Modernist Condo Building, Clayton

I don't know if I should like this building or not; it's weird at the same time as being sort of cool. The dichotomy between the towering condo building with the Gothic Revival church is startling, and perhaps a symbol of the two Claytons: old and new.
