Top Secret

I was allowed to take the following pictures in a building currently under rehab, provided I didn't tell the location.

  1. Wow! I love your photos! When I am in St. Louis, one of my favorite things to do is drive around & look at the fabulous buildings. You have captured them well! Do you have any info on the church for sale on Kingshighway, not too far past the Chase Park Plaza Hotel? I seem to be fascinated by that church. Thanks.

  2. Well, I answered my own question... it is the former Second Baptist Church and is under contract for purchase by Rothschild Development. I guess he plans to make condos and retail space within the building.

  3. My barber used to be on the 9th floor of that building and that awsome ceiling was exposed shortly before she was kicked out. That lobby had many layers of styles built up over time, the last of course being the cheap 1970's paneling and the lay-in ceiling. My favorite layer is the deco travertine. I would be curious to know what the ceiling looked like at that time? I am guessing the mosaic is older?

For fun sometimes after a haircut I would walk all the way down that curved stair to the forst floor.

  4. I am familiar with this building because I bought a condo there.

That "curved" stair is the fire escape and will remain in the building. Cleaned up of course.

There were 4 mosaics "discovered" under false ceilings. They too will remain.

  5. It's an amazing staircase isn't it?
