The Wikipedia article about Dillard has a photo of the building with the caption that it served as the Post Office for the town - so I'd imagine your description of it as a general store is probably correct.
Weird that I came across this! Though I've long since moved away, I'm from Davisville MO, which is only a few miles away from Dillard. Yes, it'd be the general store and post office...you can tell by the loading dock on the left side of the building; which would've been where farmers backed their trucks to load feed and farming supplies. My grandfather owned the same kind of store in Davisville.
