The tiny town of Lewisburgh is in southwest St. Louis County, in that small corner that is north of the county line but south of the Meramec River.
I'm not sure why the town is here, other than it must have served the local agricultural population that is drastically shrinking in this isolated part of the metropolitan area. The church, which is still in operation, must be a center of the town's life.
This is a new one on me. I grew up in Kirkwood and spent a lot of time around the Meramec in the '40s and '50s but never heard of this town.

Where is it?
Go west on I-44 and exit at the Lewis Road exit, and head up into the hills. You'll come out into the valley and the town is by the railroad tracks past the Pevely Farms golf course. It might also be named just "Lewis." It's unincorporated.
