Compton Avenue Viaduct Closes
In preparation for the complete reconstruction of the Grand Viaduct, the Compton Viaduct closed today. Remnants of when dozens of train tracks would snake under the bridges over the Mill Creek Valley, one by one they have been replaced or removed over the last twenty years. The Spring Avenue bridge was just flat out removed, permanently, while the Jefferson Avenue bridge was just replaced. Expect other old bridges around St. Louis to be replaced in the coming years.
